The drowsy chaperone is a show within a show homage to broadway and its musicals especially those of the 1920s. I have not seen the show but this cd makes me want to. As he plays the record of his favorite musical the fictional 1928 hit the drowsy chaperone the show comes to life onstage as he wryly comments. It doesn t try to be anything profound or message laden. The story concerns a middle aged asocial musical theatre fan.
